Dostoevsky on Happiness
January 24, 2026
Dostoevsky didn’t think happiness was just feeling good or avoiding pain. He believed real happiness is something you earn, by going through suffering, knowing yourself deeply, and living with purpose. He believed joy comes when you face all of life, even the painful parts, and understand where your unhappiness comes from. For Dostoevsky, this belief came from his Christian faith. He saw suffering as a path to humility, love, and spiritual growth, not something to escape.
Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky is the greatest book ever written! You can find it here. Or watch the series.
